Idris Elba can make anything look attractive, from sweaty sauna selfies to father-son outings, and now he can add "serenading '90s hits with all the wrong lyrics" to that list. Last night on The Tonight Show, the actor teamed up with Jimmy Fallon to cover a few songs after they had gone through Google Translate. The resulting lyrics are incomprehensible, but Elba's performances are gold.
He starts off with rapping "The Baby Escaped" (AKA "Baby Got Back" by Sir Mix-a-Lot).
And followed up with an impassioned serenade of "I'll Place Kindness on You" (AKA "I'll Make Love to You" by Boyz II Men) with Fallon.
Then he got really into it.
But Elba saved the best part of the performance for last. While Fallon went on to flaunt his falsetto, the actor turned on his deep, late-night DJ voice and smooth-talked over the music: "Lady, I'll always love you. No matter what you do, I'm gonna place kindness on you. And your heart will always be mine."
Can he do an official recording of this please?
